Technology Taking Over Our Lives

I will warn you now, this blog entry has nothing to do with art what so ever.

Today on my drive home from work I was almost side swiped 3 times in a matter of 15 minutes (absolutely no exaggeration, actually it was probably less time), and what was going on?? Nope I didn't have a giant magnet on the side of my car, I was driving by a couple of jerks texting and driving. What pisses me off the most is that twice it was the same lady with a child in the car. She was so focused on her phone she didn't even noticed I honked the first time, I had to lay on my horn to make her pay attention. After getting past her little bug I looked back in my rearview mirror and she was literally in between two lanes.

What is so important that people have to put everyones life in danger? Why can they not wait until the next traffic light? I am not the perfect driver, but I will not put my life or my families life in danger to answer some stupid text. I even had a new radio installed in my car that has bluetooth so it would be hands free if I need to answer my phone. We as drivers have enough distractions on the road we need to put the phone down and pay attention.

We as a society have grown so dependent on our technology that we have forget how to talk to someone that is right in front of us. Over the weekend our family went to a water park and I was amazed over how many people still had their phones with them and I mean in the water with them, either they had it in some waterproof poach thingy or had a waterproof cover. Come on, REALLY, people can't go a few hours with out having their phones attached to them so they can spend time with their families. Ok, it would be one thing if they did that so they could take pictures, but even then there are waterproof cameras out there too.

Maybe we should make it a point to put the technology down and learn how to interact with people again. Get out have some family time, technology can wait, what did we do when there were no smart phones? And what are we teaching our children?

This is what is important to me, not my next text or email, not even my next piece of art is as important as my family, whats important to you?

Jasper's Cat Naps

Usually the reason for me having problems creating is becuase I have artist block or just too busy, well now I have a new problem. Mr. Jasper has found a new napping place. This creates a big problem on so many levels: He is in my way As you can see, he is very hairy and has a lot of hair balls which he has no issues getting rid of wherever he would like. Again, very hairy and he sheds, on everything including the painting I was working on. (good thing I was not happy with the painting). He will push off anything in his way Along with my art desk he has found a few other places, our computer desk, in front of the satellite receiver, the bathtub and the bin where I keep my art towels.  Along with is odd sleeping area he now has fleas. I will not say where he got these from but I do know the source. Now its off to the pet store to find a product to put on him because giving this cat a bath is a death sentence for anyone that attempts it. We have never had a flea proble...

Digital Flowers

I am still trying to get the hang of the tools, love how many different apps there are for  drawing on a tablet. Each one has its own thing to offer. I will be working on these on  my down time from painting, more to come soon though.

Page of Flowers

It has been a couple of weeks since my last post. We have been very busy, we finally found a house! After being in a contract for over 9 months with a short sale house we decided to step away from it and see if we would qualify for a new house, we did. So between the kids being back at school and getting all the necessary paperwork together for the house I have had very little time to blog. However, that does not mean I haven't made time to create. I have been doing a lot of artwork in my smaller sketchbook lately, It is much easier to carry around on the go, and we have been on the go. The flowers were drawn first then painted in with watercolors and sketched out the rest in pen.
