Like most people I start my day with coffee, usually a mug, I like it hot in the morning and a couple of times a week I will treat myself to a yummy frappuccino. My coffee has to be strong and if I make it at home (which is most of the time), I have to have flavored creamer.  This little cup of joe was created with ink and alcohol markers. Day 17 of Inktober So lets hear it, what type of coffee do you like? Strong or weak? Light, medium or dark roast? Hot or cold? Do you have any ideas for trying a different coffee or what to put in it? I would love to hear your ideas and as always Happy Inking

Watercolor Painting #2 for my wonderful crazy customer (my mother) and Day #5 of #worldwatercolormonth. I am really liking the way the background came out on this. I think I will be done with painting coffee for a while, I really want to use the month to try new things with my watercolors. I made a promise and I finished the two painting that were requested. Now it is time to spread my wings  paints. I returned to work today with only a few hours of sleep, so I am beat. I had this horrible kink in my neck that woke me up every time I moved, thank goodness its almost gone because I look forward to coming home and not actually needing coffee to keep me awake. Well I have finished 1 of 2 commissioned paintings This is the second commission I have done. I have sent to proof to the client and she is happy with it. This will be for a coffee themed kitchen. The client wanted something with bright colors and like one of the previous pieces I created, this took a little over 5 hours to complete from sketch to final. Another addition to the "coffee art" This was done with Ph Martin Radiant Concentrated Watercolors, Pen and White Ink. I was told by one person that the bottom portion of the background should be darker, let me know what you think, I am truly interested in other opinions. Have a great day and "Drink More Coffee"

With so much time on my hands I am making sure I am keeping busy. Of course the only think coming to mind is coffee. My Mother has asked if I can do 2 pieces of artwork for her with a coffee theme for her kitchen. She wants bright colors so wish me luck, this could get ugly. I love some good coffee, I even splurge on a more expensive brand at the grocery store. I like my coffee to taste good and be strong (just like my man),  if I forget it at home, I am not a nice person for a couple of hours. On occasion I will stop at a popular coffee shop and pick up a coffee on my way home from work for my and my hubby, usually after payday, have to watch those pennies. Here is the latest idea for our soon to be coffee station. A little more then a sketch but definitely not a finished product. I wanted to play with color and see what I liked and didn't like. I used Ph Martin inks and watercolors. I think I will be changing the color of the bottom cup and making the table a little lighter and the cups a bit bigger. Other then that I am very happy with the way it came out. The lettering was added once I scanned the painting into the computer. There were a few changes I would have loved to make after I had it in the computer, but I don't have one of those...

It takes some time to find the right idea, then it takes some time to get it just the way you want it. This is a little look at me coming up with some ideas and sketching them out in pen, a few I did with pencil first. I like to do a lot of my doodles in pen, that way if I make a mistake I have to find a way to work with it or around it.

With the new house right around the corner we have decided to setup a coffee station to save counter space. With that in mind I have started to create some artwork for the area. This will be the first of four, drawn out and painted in gouache. The font was added on the computer, still have a lot more to learn on lettering.  I have seen a few coffee station/bars on Pintrest that I like, but I would love to hear other ideas too. I will be going to garage sales and thrift stores to see if I can find a small piece of furniture and refurbish it. Learning to be a little thriftier and why pay a big company when I can make it just the way I want, right? Here's to all my coffee lovers

Gouache and ink on paper As of October 2013, I stopped smoking real cigarettes and started using an e-cig. This was in attempt to start working out. My dad had talked me into signing my two kids up for karate (best choice I made) and they had a fitness class called "Cage Fitness." I had already decided I was going to stop but had not made the final decision, this made it for me. I knew there was no way I could do an intense work-out like this and still smoke. My sweet hubby is not a smoker, so me smelling like ciggy smoke kind of grossed him out, I can't blame him, even as a smoker I hated that stale smoke smell too. I am in no way saying that the e-cig is any better, I have heard it is just as bad. Where does that leave me? I now have two new addictions, one being my e-cig and the other my new found love of Starbucks® Coffee. Both, probably not the best for me, one is still full of nicotine and the other is full of caffeine and calories. Honestly I will probably ...
