My New Addiction

Gouache and ink on paper

As of October 2013, I stopped smoking real cigarettes and started using an e-cig. This was in attempt to start working out. My dad had talked me into signing my two kids up for karate (best choice I made) and they had a fitness class called "Cage Fitness." I had already decided I was going to stop but had not made the final decision, this made it for me. I knew there was no way I could do an intense work-out like this and still smoke. My sweet hubby is not a smoker, so me smelling like ciggy smoke kind of grossed him out, I can't blame him, even as a smoker I hated that stale smoke smell too. I am in no way saying that the e-cig is any better, I have heard it is just as bad.

Where does that leave me? I now have two new addictions, one being my e-cig and the other my new found love of Starbucks® Coffee. Both, probably not the best for me, one is still full of nicotine and the other is full of caffeine and calories. Honestly I will probably give up the e-cig before the coffee. I drink Starbucks® enough that I have signed up for their rewards program and I have already made it to a "gold" member, of course that has been with the help of my hubby too, when I get one I usually get one for him too.

My favorite is the Peppermint Mocha Latte or Frappuccinno, this can put a big dent in the finances so what do I do? I go the the grocery store and buy the Starbucks® coffee in the bag so I can have it everyday. I have coffee every morning just like almost everyone else, my addiction is to the taste and quality of the coffee. Trust me, I can tell a difference between the other brands and Starbucks®. The cost is a little more but it is worth it to me.

My love of coffee stems from my wacky schedule, I am an amateur artist and I am trying to work my way out of a Customer Service job. I love working with people but it is not what I want to do for the rest of my life. I end up staying up until 12am or 1am, either painting, sketching or blogging and I get up to go to the regular 9-5 between 6am-6:30am and have to get my two little ones off to school and me off to work, so on the days I am dragging ass, I get me some coffee and I make sure it is one I like.

What is you favorite Starbucks® coffee or just regular coffee?

Coffee is my vice. I go through phases of non-stop consumption. I crave it daily, but it's bad for high blood pressure. It takes me a while to kick the caffeine habit and drink herbal tea.

Cool blog! Keep writing and painting.

Being a Little Jelly

Every now and then I like to check out what " Skillshare " has to offer for a traditional artist. They don't have a lot but they do have a few. One I chose was " Modern Watercolor Techniques " It was a fun little class and not hard to follow at all. This is where I got my "Spacey picture side from, it was the last assignment. My favorite part was the Jelly fish though, I had a tough time with the first one I did so I tried it a second time, here is the fist and second one. This was the fist try, she had us mixing different mediums with watercolors. I was using watercolors, acrylic ink and gouache. I liked the colors of the right jelly and the bottom jelly the most.  This was Jelly number 2. I felt like I was getting a little more control with the smaller brush. I also added that thing in the middle that I saw on most jelly fish. I can't say I will start painting jelly fish or sea creatures but it was nice to learn a new way to le...

Feeling a Little Ducky

As moving day is coming closer I have had to pack up most of my art supplies, which has limited me to 2 small sketch books, the pens I use the most and my handy, dandy tablet. I have turned to my tablet lately and have been pleasantly surprised by what I have been able to do. I had a very difficult time at first drawing on the tablet so I did more tradition, pen and paper drawings. Since I basically have no supplies for another 30 or so days I have made it a mission to keep creating what ever way I can in between, packing, children, work and life in general. This is how I have started my last 2 tablet drawings: Just a scribble across the entire screen, in the righthand side I saw a penguin and that was were I was going to started, then I on the bottom lefthand side I saw a duck and thats were I started. This is the cute little duck that came from this scribbly mess: I am finding many benefits of sketching on a tablet Layers - I can start a new layer and not...
