What a wonderful Silhouette

A couple of weeks ago I had a friend invite me to the "Stamp and Scrapbook" expo. At first I said no because I don't really do much with stamps or scrapbooking but after thinking about I figured I could take the kids and get them out of the house. My daughter loves to make little things out of paper so I figured it would give her some ideas.

Well, I was kind of right, I found this little beauty at the expo and I absolute love it.

This is a Silhouette Cameo cutter, the little blue box you see sitting in front of it was a sheet of watercolor paper that I had done a background on and could figure out what to do with it so I threw it on the cutting mat to see if this machine would cut it and as you can see, it did a fine job. the flowers are a stamp that I received in a mystery box at the expo.

Since then I have been going to town cutting vinyl and the possibilities are almost endless, here are a few things I have done with the machine:

This is a box I made for my daughter, we picked up the box from "Michael's", painted it and cut out the vinyl. The only thing I noticed with this box it the little brass lock is off centered so I centered the letters with the box not the lock. The other issue I had was the small little soccer balls on top, it was really tough to weed the vinyl on something so tiny. Other then that a success.

This box was done for my son, and yes he is a little gamer, we did the same, got the box, painted it and put the vinyl on it. Looking at it from this angle it looks like a success and it would have been if I would have placed the vinyl in the right direction. I put it on upside down. Still looks good though.

This is one of my many sketch books so I figured I would practice on it. Another lesson learned on this one, take the time to place some markers so the text goes on straight. Other than that, I love the way it looks

To one of my favorites, my vapor mod. this was my first vinyl project, it was a solid pink so I dressed it up a little. I learn a bit on this one, mainly finding the right cut setting on the Silhouette and maybe a little patients.

I am still learning but the final goal is to be able to trace my own artwork an be able to cut it on this machine. I am still in the trial and error stage so we will see what happens, there are so many things to learn on this machine and I have nearly scratched the surface. I actually have some card stock coming in soon so I am excited about doing some cards too.

Feeling a Little Ducky

As moving day is coming closer I have had to pack up most of my art supplies, which has limited me to 2 small sketch books, the pens I use the most and my handy, dandy tablet. I have turned to my tablet lately and have been pleasantly surprised by what I have been able to do. I had a very difficult time at first drawing on the tablet so I did more tradition, pen and paper drawings. Since I basically have no supplies for another 30 or so days I have made it a mission to keep creating what ever way I can in between, packing, children, work and life in general. This is how I have started my last 2 tablet drawings: Just a scribble across the entire screen, in the righthand side I saw a penguin and that was were I was going to started, then I on the bottom lefthand side I saw a duck and thats were I started. This is the cute little duck that came from this scribbly mess: I am finding many benefits of sketching on a tablet Layers - I can start a new layer and not...

Is It Noisy Out Here

I am a day behind on posting for Day 2 of Inktober but that is ok.  I went with the prompt on this one "Noisy," as much as I would have loved to draw my children it would have taken too long.  Personally I love music almost any type, but the one thing I can't seem to understand, is when your in your car and a car beside you has the bass so high that it rattles your brain. I myself have never sat in a car with bass that high for fear that my ears or head would explode so I don't know if you can even hear anything other than bass. So here is my questions, they are to help others understand the reason behind the bass. What is the point of having the bass up that high? Can you hear anything other than bass? Is it a status thing, the higher the bass the cooler you are? Does it do damage to you vehicle? with all that vibration it has to rattle something loose, right? Well at least I know I will have a few more years with out hearing aids than the ...

Hey Cupcake

One of my favorite things to bake is cupcakes, so for Day 21 of #inktober you got a cupcake. Of course I can never get my icing as perfect as this but they always taste good. They are so much easier to make then a regular cake, you don't have to worry about the bottom sticking to the pan or cutting the top of the layers to make it flat. Bake the cupcake and throw some icing on them unless of course you are going for a more creative look but even then it's still easier in my opinion. Hey Cupcake keep on inking!!
